The "Wound to Gift Pipeline"

Tell me your deepest wounds and I’ll tell you your deepest gifts.
In recent years, I came to know this notion to some extent through the realization that my life path of supporting mothers could be traced back to my own birth and the absence of support my mother received. Without even knowing it, I was fulfilling a mission that was born with my own arrival earthside.
More recently, I experienced a deep healing that revealed even more to me. In a combined IFS therapy and breathwork session, I connected with a part of my pre-verbal self that felt deeply, energetically disembodied. It seems to be connected to unresolved moments post-birth that left a pattern of feeling profoundly untethered.
This part of me, suspended energetically in time and in my body, deeply needed proprioceptive repair. I needed to be swaddled, squeezed, held firmly, and compassionately acknowledged for my little energetic being’s discomfort.
When I hold my clients in labor. When I offer a Closing of the Bones. When I touch you on my massage table.
That is my unspoken mission.
For you to feel held. For your untethered parts to integrate. For you to land with compassion for the enormity and vulnerability of your experience.
It brings tears to my eyes to write this, even. The gifts I offer in this world are also gifts that offer me my own healing, and I think this could be true for all of us.
I wanted to share this in case it makes you curious to explore these connections for yourself.
What of your own earliest wounds might be informing your present gifts and offerings?
How might your own gifts and offerings point to the very things your own young being needed, and perhaps still does?
How might you make time to give these very gifts to yourself, whether literally or simply through witnessing and acknowledging the things that were missing in your earliest life experiences, and how they may give more meaning and purpose to how you show up in the world now?
For me, seeing this both inspires my purpose in the world and deepens my own self-care, which in turn supports me in having more energy to keep showing up for others in these ways.
I wanted to share this with you, and if you’re interested in exploring some of these connections together, let me know. I’d be happy to recommend my therapist if you’re looking for someone. I also invite you to join me for breathwork or Havening, or simply carve out a few moments of your day to reflect and journal on these notions.
I’m here if you feel inclined to share whatever this touches...
